The Educated Military

It seems that the stereotype that many believe is that the bottom of the barrel for careers is the Military. If a person joins the Army, Marines, Air Force or Navy it is because they could not cut it in “the real world.” High School seniors who don’t have what it takes to get into state colleges or “good” jobs resort to joining one of the military branches. This is just not the case. I serve in a Company of soldiers that are a wide cross section of the United States society. Many of the soldiers that I have worked with have, if not a BA or a BS, college credits on their way to a degree. I know of one in particular who chose to postpone the defense of his Doctoral Dissertation because he believes in the mission of the US military and wanted to help spread human rights across the globe.
I don’t know what the purpose of these statements, but they are false and unfounded. People say don’t bite the hand that feeds you, well don’t insult the man that defends you.

...and don't let J. Kerry's statements get to you. Consider the source. Ahem.
