Today I got promoted to 1st Lieutenant. I am pretty excited that now I don't have the stigma of a "fresh" 2nd Lieutenant. I have been to combat and have been in the Army now for almost 2 years, though not long, I have some experience. Julia pinned on the rank on my beret and LTC Cheatham pinned, or more appropriately, velcroed on the rank on my uniform.
The picture above is of Julia and me when we were talking to some other friends before the actual ceremony. I didn't know that SSG Beaulieu, my Fire Support NCO, took the picture. As you can see, I was taken a little off guard.
