This weekend was the first weekend back that I didn’t have to go in to work. It just so happened to be a three day weekend as well. With some well deserved free time and me being home, Julia and I decided to take a trip. We decided to go to the city of Worms (for those that don’t know German pronunciation, it is pronounced with a “V”). The importance of this city is that it was here that Martin Luther stood before the Imperial Diet of Worms to defend his writings. Despite pressure from the Emperor and several princes, he did not recant his teachings saying,
“Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason - I do not accept the authority of the popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other - my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. God help me. Amen.”
It was amazing to see the beautiful churches that have stood in the city for centuries and to be in this amazing place where such a pivotal event in the Reformation took place. The statue of Martin Luther was under restoration and was covered so we were unable to see it but there were plenty of other sites. Worms claims to be the second oldest city in Germany.

You two are THE most photogenic people I have ever seen. Do you ever take a BAD picture? *snort*. Sounds like a wonderful place... I spent some time at work (shhhhhhh) googling it.
God bless you both.
